Grace moments

There are moments in life that often put things in perspective, "grace moments," I like to call them--moments that somehow remind us that grace is fundamentally the reality in which we bathe ourselves.

For me, those moments occurred as I returned to playing racquetball, I witnessed two boys find so much joy in skating and playing hockey, I watched the extent to which the fine folks at the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex went on behalf of folks with disabilities, I participated in what was a passionate and sometimes very angry meeting with our congressional representative, and I encountered folks who were grieving with gratitude. Moments of grace in all these occurrences swept over me and nudged me forward. At its deepest, I was reminded, life is a gift; grace is the deepest truth of life. I need those moments to reorient me, to get me back on track, to propel myself forward into an unknown future.
